About the AUX-35

The awkward part of adding a receiver to a car built before about 2012 is not power and it is not the aerial — it is getting the audio into a stereo that has no aux input. The AUX-35 covers the three routes that actually exist.

If the head unit has a 3.5 mm socket, use the line lead and you are done. If it does not, FM direct injection splices into the aerial feed and puts the receiver onto a clear frequency without broadcasting into the car next to you — which is the difference between this and a cheap FM transmitter, and it is why it sounds like a station instead of a phone call.

On anything from roughly 2014 onwards the USB-C route is usually cleanest: the stereo sees a digital source and you keep steering-wheel track controls.
